Joining the Inezia team
In 2013 I will join the Inezia team as a tourguide. Inezia Tours is a Dutch travel agency specialized in birding- and photography trips around the globe. My close friend and fellow photographer Peter Grobben is running the Photography tours and has set up some 18 different photography trips for the upcoming year 2013. I was both pleased and honoured to be asked to join the team. The first trip I will be leading as a tourguide is planned for march 2013 and will take us to Finland. While the winter is still going strong in Finnish Lapland our aim is to try to photograph some of the mighty hunting Great Grey owls and off course some stunning landscapes. More info to come !!
Out now: birdwatching in Iceland
Next Tuesday the 26th of June my second book will be officialy presented in IJmuiden. After I had visited Iceland a few times I had a plan of writing a dutch version of the well known english “where to watch” guides. I wrote this traveluide espacially for birdwatchers and nature enthousiasts who are planning to go Iceland. Jon Baldur Hlidberg helped me by letting me use some chapters of his birdwatching guide he published several years ago. The images covered in the book are all made during my trips to Iceland. many thanks to Paul and Jack from KNNV publishers for giving me this opportunity. “Vogels kijken op IJsland” is available from the 27th of June in bookstores throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. ISBN: 9789050114349. price € 14,95
Images from the trip to the Ukraine

St. Sofia Cathedral, Kiev
A new map of images has been added to the Portfolio section. The images where taken during our trip to Ukraine. We celebrated Vicory day, visited the exclusion zone around Chernobyl and headed southwards to Pervomaysk. Ukraine formed a part of the Soviet Union until the collapse of 1991. Twenty years later leftovers from the Soviet era can still be found everywhere. Ukraine has struggled socially, economically, and politically in its transformation to a democratic and free-market system. Torn between the East and the West, Ukraine’s geographic location further complicates its transformation.
Trip to Ukraine
Ri
ght now we are preparing a short trip to the Ukraine. Together with my close friend and fellow globetrotter Roemer Visser we’ll do a 5 day itinerary which will take us to the cities of Kiev, Pripyat, Uman and Pervomaysk. Solo East travel agency helped us gaining the necessary permits for the exclusion-zone around the city of Pripyat. We found a cheap place to sleep in one of Kiev´s suburbs. Just bought the lonely planet for some ultimate travel info. Hopefully the weather will be fine. Can’t wait to go.
